The crisp cool air and beautiful scenery of the lush orange, yellow and red leaves, the scent of a pumpkin spice candle burning in the background with a warm apple crisp baking in the oven….these, my friends, are a few of my favorite things about fall.
I’m fully aware of how #basic I sound here, and I’m also 100% okay with that because the truth is all of these things make me so happy! And on top of this, fall fashion is THE best. Light outerwear, chunky knits, suede boots and warmer layers make this fashionista bursting at the seams with all the outfit possibilities. This is the season I can look cute and fashionable before the dread of winter comes. When winter hits, the only things I wear are for survival needs. East coasters, ya feel me? West coasters, y’all do not understand the struggle. It is real and it is terrible.
The trends this season are so ON POINT and have me so excited. This post is entirely dedicated to all of my favorite trends and I hope this serves as a little fashion inspiration for you this season! Leave a comment below–which trend do you like the most?!
- Faux Suede Jacket from Old Navy
If you’re into the trend but don’t want to actually buy a real suede jacket or spend an arm and a leg–this jacket is for you. I bought this in a medium with the thought that I wanted to layer this jacket with sweaters underneath and it definitely has enough room for that. Arms a bit long for petite frames like mine, but not to the point that I am drowning.
The faux suede is a gorgeous caramel with a more orangey hue. This jacket is stretchy, comfortable and perfect for the price point and trend this season. It’s been selling out like crazy in stores and almost sold out online! The jacket is also machine washable which is a HUGE plus considering real suede would be such a pain to clean and take care of. Aaaaaand if you are #veganfortheanimals, this totally meets your fashion and animal needs. 🙂
2. Floral Embroidery [Drop-Waist Dress from Express]
Price: $88 original, got it in store for $44 (it was 30% off and the cashier gave me an additional 30% that day! SCORE!)
Okay, the floral embroidery is giving me all of the modern day life on the prairie vibes and I am LIVING for it. Plus it’s on a shift dress with ruffles and a drop waist? This dress is serious perfection–hides my food baby and has elastic wrist bands so that my sleeves can stay in place. The material is thick, well-made and has a beautiful patch of floral embroidery on the front. This dress makes me instantly feel pretty and makes me look so put together. When it gets colder, I can’t wait to style it with tights and some suede boots. 🙂
3. News Boy Hat from Target
Price: $12.99 plus 5% off if you use the Target card!
This hat is a STEAL. It’s on all of the instagram fashion models (lol) and seriously the cutest, chicest hat that makes me look edgy when I’m really a corn-ball of a girl with the spirit of an 80 year old grandma. The fit is slightly large so if you have a small head, this may not be the hat for you. I have a larger head and the hat is a little loose on me. That says a lot, y’all.
4. Oversized Grey Plaid Blazer from Target
Price: $34.99 with an extra 5% off if you use a Target card!
I’m loving all the menswear inspired pieces this season–from suits to a strong pant, to these masculine blazers–I love it all. This blazer is true to size–wearing a medium and it definitely is oversized but that’s the look I wanted! It has ruched sleeves which gives it that slouchy look. The sleeves can be pushed up to give you that edgier look too! I styled it here with jeans and my other favorite–the loafer slides! These slides are the best Gucci knock-offs. They’re $22 and so cute and comfortable!
Floral Print Wrap Dress from Target and Floral print pants from Zara
Price: Dress = $22.99 and Floral pants = $35.90
I am obsessed with the floral prints for fall! The dress comes in this gorgeous orange red color which makes it perfect for the season–I call this my pumpkin spice dress. 🙂 The dress has adorable flutter sleeves and two strings to tie together. The material is very lightweight and isn’t the warmest. I will say that the fit wasn’t perfect on me and I had to hold up the dress in places with double-stick tape! Perhaps if you had a longer frame than I, the dress would fit more properly. Petite gals–I would skip on this! But the concept is something I love–flattering wrap fit with feminine ruffle details!
These Zara pants give me LIFE! High-waisted PLUS wide legged? Oohhh girl, you better get you some! These are supposed to be culottes which mean they should actually hit one’s calf, but this petite gal wears them like real pants and they work because they make my legs look long! So absolutely comfortable, work friendly and chic. They come in multiple prints from plain to stripes. Collect them all, my friends!
Just a few of my favorite fall trends for ya! I love how versatile each of these pieces are–they can be mixed and matched, worn casual, worn dressy, and are all priced under $60. If there’s one thing I do know, it’s how to shop on a teacher budget and look chic while doing it. Hope you enjoyed these looks and comment on which you want to try!
